FIRST THINGS
Hope 2026: A Hopeful Gathering for the Whole Church
In a time of uncertainty, change, and challenge, the Church of Ireland needs spaces where evangelicals can gather with confidence in the gospel, encourage one another, and look ahead with faith and hope. We are glad to announce an upcoming gathering during General Synod: Hope 2026.
When: on Friday, 8th May 2026, at Newcastle Presbyterian Church, with buffet supper from 6:30 pm and the main gathering beginning at 7:30 pm, promises to be a warm and encouraging evening of worship, fellowship, prayer, and gospel hope.
What: We are inviting clergy and laity, younger and older, from across the Church of Ireland to come together for an evening shaped by worship, conversation, panel discussion, and prayer. As General Synod meets, and with triennial elections approaching, this will be an important opportunity to hear good news stories of God at work, reflect honestly on the present moment, and encourage one another for faithful witness in the years ahead.
During the evening there will be:
Worship
Fellowship and conversation
A panel discussion
Prayer together
Encouragement for the future life and witness of the Church of Ireland
Buffet supper will be available from 6:30 pm to help create a relaxed and welcoming space before the gathering begins.
We are especially keen to welcome younger adults and emerging leaders, alongside those who have served faithfully over many years. This will be a valuable opportunity to gather with others from across the island, strengthen evangelical partnership, and seek the Lord together for the future of his church. We hope you’ll join us.
In the ever-changing landscape of the Church of Ireland in 2024, we are well aware of the myriad challenges we face. However, amid these challenges, it is crucial that we remain vigilant and steadfast in our commitment to uphold the Gospel to preach Christ crucified. We have every reason to be thankful, for God's transformative work is unmistakably present within our beloved Church. In collaboration with our partners in the work of the Gospel within the Church of Ireland, CIEF is thrilled to announce an upcoming gathering of evangelical leaders from across our denomination. As we gather, we seek to encourage, renew fellowship, and hear the word of God proclaimed.
